Welcome all to my first entry of Music Catholic!

My name is Vickie Lyford and I am a Catholic Music Artist and mom of 4 amazing and wonderful musicians. My husband is also a musician, plays guitar and writes music. Our primary instruments are: Piano, Violin, Guitar, Mandolin, Dobro, Voice and throw in some Drums and Percussion instruments, a Cello waiting to be learned and played, and you have quite an assortment of musical diversity!

I decided to start this tumblr to be able to share with you our comings and goings with music and other Catholic music artists along with faith stories and testimonies, thus MusicCatholic and Life! I recorded my first CD entitiled, “The Future is Bright” almost 10 years ago. Good thing I was ahead of my time as far as energy and creativity. I think people are finally adjusting to the sound of The Future is Bright, which you can hear and purchase songs on  my Myspace. http://www.myspace.com/vickielyford

While spiritually invigorating and adorned with Catholic themes running through the lyrics, it’s NOT traditional in any sense of the word and definitely can be considered Alternative Rock/Pop/Latin/ Jazz genre. The Future is Bright is an expression of an honest and passionate faith in my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! It was written at a time when we as Catholics were going through some pretty difficult times in the Church. (No need to go into detail here. Just take a glance back at what has been happening in the Roman Catholic American Church over the past decade and the decade before that and you will get the picture)

Most people are some what taken of guard by the music on my CD. If you give it a chance and just sit back and follow the lyrics, don’t be surprised to find some golden strands of wisdom weaved into the fabric of this Contemporary Catholic CD; St. John of the Cross, St. Therese the Little Flower, Sacred Scripture verese, the Creed, Divine Mercy and a few select other Catholic devotional genre/themes are touched on. With all that explained, I am confident that you will be not only inspired by what you hear, but possibly challenged to make a deeper commitment to love and serve the Lord. At least that is what my hope is…I have gotten many stories of healing, important projects launched, inspiration, ppl returning back to the faith, based off people listening to this CD. I will be the first to tell you that I am NOT responsible for these graces…only God can be given credit.

Over the years, I have come across some pretty other amazing Catholic Artist that many have not heard of yet and I would like to feature them on upcoming entries and put up links to share. You may not like all of what of you hear, but I am certain you will be glad you took some time to check some of these folks out!  We are not perfect, but we are passionate and reasonably faithful!

My eldest daughter, Selah, can be found online on Youtube and Facebook. She is only 19 and a solid practicing Catholic who is being called into mainstream secular Pop/Alternative Scene. Please keep her in your prayers. She will be recording with Randy Jackson’s full time engineer this Jan.2010 and we are hoping to see some great things come out of her recording projects in 2010! Music Catholic’s main mission is to direct you to music that you will be inspired by, but be healed and blessed by. I desire to help lead you closer to Jesus and into the throne room of God through Catholic and Inspirational Christian and Positive Music as well as stories of faith and love that will lift your spirit and heart to God!  We are here to pray with you and for you.  In him take delight!  He is Alive and ready to lift your burdens and bring you into a place of happiness and peace. Turn your heart to him and he will fill your heart with everything that is right and good…
